On the white background of the torso Asian Jabiru, his massive wings, head and tail seem to be blue-black, and the neck is iridescent green, purple or blue tones depending on the angle of incidence of sunlight. Males and females are almost identical, and you can distinguish them by eye color: males are brown, females are yellow.
These storks, one of the largest wading birds that live along rivers, streams, ponds, and mangroves in flooded fields. Place of residence is chosen so that nearby was a tall tree: it will definitely come in handy during mating season.
flickr/Kasper Willebrandts Asian Jabiru omnivorous, but they have their preferences in the form of frogs, fish, lizards and crabs. In pursuit of prey they were even able to run a few yards, fingering his long red legs. After catching prey, the bird swallows it with lightning speed, dramatically throwing his head back.
Their partners Asian Jabiru choose for a few years or for life and during the mating rituals are limited to the tapping of beaks. Mating occurs in the nest is a bulky structure with a diameter of about two meters, mounted at a height of not less than 25 metres.
Several oval eggs are incubated by both parents, together, they care about the Chicks, which hatch in about a month.
P. S. And remember, only by changing their consumption — together we change the world! ©
