Solar power plant with hydrogen energy storage

Mini SES "II Diamante" (the Diamond) is the new generation heliopower station from the company Enel, the development research division of the company and the University of Pisa.

The first station is set Diamante at the Villa Medici, near Florence. The diameter of the sphere is 8 meters. Thirty-eight polycrystalline solar panels located on top and on the South side of the sphere. The rest of the surface of the sphere is covered with glass panels. Inside the unit there are three spheres, each 2 meters in diameter. These areas are the reservoirs for hydrogen storage, using advanced technology of metal hydrides. Surplus electricity generated by the solar panels is accumulated in the hydrogen spheres. The installation can generate enough electricity to meet the energy needs of small residential homes.

Design of solar power plant "Diamante II" versatile and easy to dismantle. Consists of prefabricated parts, made of glass and metal. Worth noting and gorgeous Italian design, emphasizing the harmonious balance between architecture, technology and nature.
