Boeing introduced the space Shuttle CST-100
Aerospace giant presented its project for the delivery of astronauts to the International space station.
Manned space capsule CST-100 will be launched into space using the Atlas 5 rocket built at United Launch Alliance, jointly by Boeing and Lockheed Martin. The transport system is able to carry seven people and, according to the Vice-President of the company John Mulholland, will be tested in 2017.
He also said that the module was designed from the outset to be compatible with another booster, if necessary, although this will entail some modification of the interface between the spacecraft and the launcher.
Earlier, rival company SpaceX also offered the option of delivery of astronauts to the ISS.
