White, fairy — tale wonder Wat Rong Khun (Wat Rong Khun) is located near the city of Chiang Rai in Northern Thailand. White temple original combines traditional Buddhist art in a modern interpretation and design of the artist.
The idea for the creation of a complex of nine buildings, one of which is the White temple belongs to the famous Thai artist Chalermchai Kositpipat (ChalermchaiKositpipat). The area under construction is allocated is not small, about three acres. The money to build the artist received from the sales of his paintings and sketches, and the construction is made only on your accumulated over 20 years of savings. The construction of the complex began in 1997, and is in full swing, but the White temple Wat Rong Khun is already taking its visitors.
White decoration White temple was not chosen randomly. White color represents purity and wisdom of the Buddha and the blinding snow-white color shall Shine bright to the Earth and the Universe. Absolutely white walls of the temple and lying near the sculpture and just look incredibly blind its purity and a fabulous airy feel in the morning under the rays of the rising sun and the sunset, when the sun's rays touched the walls on the side. And the effect of sparkling light and heavenly blue attach small pieces of mirrored glass that adorned the white walls. To get inside the White temple, you must cross the bridge, which represents the rebirth of man on the way to the "heart" of the monastery of the Buddha. At the beginning of the bridge has round platform — mouth of the demon Rahu, with huge fangs and stretching out white hands symbolizing the circle of hell and suffering. Some hands holding a bowl for alms, hoping to get help, and this means salvation. Walking along a narrow bridge through the mass of the trailing hand becomes a little creepy, like you're for real and hell cross this line.
The temple itself is surrounded by a small pond with white fish. Before the entrance there are sculptures of Buddha sitting in the Lotus position symbolizing a spiritual world. The interior of the temple is decorated in gold colors on the four walls depict animals, symbolizing the four elements – earth (elephant), water (mythological snakes), wind (Swan) and fire (lion's mane). In the center of the temple stands an altar with a statue of the Buddha. Painting of the Church done by the artist himself.
On the temple grounds are numerous interesting sculptures. Here is a well which will certainly fulfill a wish if he will throw a coin. There is another very interesting construction without which we can not do, and as you correctly guessed it – a toilet. Built toilet in the Golden house in the same style as the temple, and upon entering you must remove your shoes and wear replacement. Everything inside is decorous and purely as, indeed, throughout the complex.
