It is often necessary to build a particular structure in place, few are suitable for such purposes. The reason for this may be the slope of the soil, proximity to water and a number of other conditions that counteract the standard methods of construction. That is why in this area developed a complex of measures under the name geo-engineering. Its purpose is to change the climate in some places to counter them and creating a friendly and comfortable environment.
Features of the methodProducts of geoengineering are various materials that provide protective, reinforcing and filtering functions:
- Geonet. Used for road construction with the aim of strengthening the asphalt concrete and prevent soil erosion.
- Waterproofing. It includes paintings, profiles, belts, hoses, water resisting features.
- Geotextile. Very dense synthetic material, widely used in various construction fields. It performs the function of reinforcement, filtration, erosion protection, drainage, insulation, etc.
- Gabion. Grid design filled with stones or small gravel. Its purpose is the prevention of rock breaking, protection of slopes of ravines, banks of ponds.
- Geogrid. Cellular structure, having high resistance to chemicals and microorganisms. Field of application is road construction, the formation of artificial reservoirs, landscape design. The grille prevents the shrinkage of loose-fill materials.
- Geomembrane. Used in waterproofing roofs and swimming pools, to protect metal pipelines from corrosion, the pillars and foundations of buildings from the damaging effects of groundwater.
