Clarence Eckerson: Life in Stockholm
Clarence Eckerson (Clarence Eckerson) made a video about how Stockholm viable city.
Clarence Eckerson is a media person, a journalist who managed to visit many cities in the world, fit for the most comfortable in terms of "green" life. In such cities usually bikes were fully integrated into the transport system, the children can play outside safely, people have access to more public transport, where there is a real sense of belonging to a community, because it is actually there are places to meet each other. Clarence goal is to show that such cities should be templates and tool kits for other cities, provide inspiration and proven solutions to some problems without having to reinvent the wheel over and over again.
This time Clarence visited and filmed on a video camera city of Sweden — Stockholm. A chance to visit this city fell Akerson in 2014 when they stood in the hot days of summer. Then he seemed charming and densely populated place, which is just buzzing like bees with people. And at the same time felt throughout the calm rhythm of the city. After nightfall the pedestrian streets were filled with people walking.
Stockholm, capital of Sweden, is certainly one of the "green" places. Although the city is eclipsed by other larger cities such as Amsterdam and Copenhagen. So of course Clarence has decided to shed light on many things that make the city such a viable and comfortable place:
The city has more good, ambitious idea: "Sweden is known as the birthplace of the "Vision Zero", whose task is the elimination of road deaths and serious injuries by 2020. Several American cities have already done these tasks to reduce mortality traffic to zero in the next 10 years is important and for yourself."
"I met with many advocates, residents and transport experts to discuss what is happening in Stockholm. Sweden is known as the birthplace of Vision Zero (the elimination of deaths on the roads)... Except Stockholm, in the past decade, implemented a progressive road fees, expanded its bike network and adopted a plan, called "the walkable city"("The Walkable City") to create a street that is more focused on public life." published
