"Smart skin" will warn of dangerous levels of solar ultraviolet radiation.
Created so-called "smart skin," which warns its owner about the impact on them of ultraviolet radiation. Scientists from the Royal Institute of technology in Melbourne have developed a stretchable and customizable device that reports about invisible to our eyes the dangers that emanate from the Sun. As you know, ultraviolet radiation can cause skin lesions and lead to cancer.
Ability to use electronic devices in different mechanical stress States provides many unique features that go beyond the capability of standard rigid electronics, according to a study published in the journal Small.
A team of scientists has created a material with thin layers of zinc oxide, which act as UV sensors.
In an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald the researchers said that this material can be a band-aid or a hand strap that is wirelessly connected to another device, e.g. smartphone or tablet to alert the user of dangerous levels of solar radiation.
When you go tanning, the device can be worn on the wrist, when to bathe – stick on hand. It will monitor the level of ultraviolet radiation, and tell you when it is higher than normal, explained study author Philip Getref (Philipp Gutruf).
The main achievement of the new material is that it consists of rubber, not silicone. Due to this, the device is so much more flexible.
It was not easy, because the rubber usually can not withstand processing temperatures. The ability of rubber to bend and stretch can be implemented into clothing, backpacks, gloves and things like that. published
P. S. And remember, only by changing their consumption — together we change the world! ©
