Brazilian dog adopts orphaned possum cubs

It was Brazil. Helpless, still blind possum cubs were left without a mother last month - she died from an attack by predators.

Fortunately, the babies were quickly found and placed in the care of zoologist Stephanie Maldonado, who studies animal behavior.

At first, Stephanie was going to give the cubs to a local wildlife rescue center, but he was overcrowded and unable to accept the newcomers. So she decided to take care of them herself.

These animals had to be fed every two hours, but even then there was no guarantee that they would survive without the maternal attention Stephanie could not give them.

And then her dog, Pretina, came to the rescue.

The good animal took pity on the poor newborn possums and began to behave with them as if they were her own puppies.

"It's very moving to see how tenderly she licks them all the time and takes care of them."

Pretina clearly liked the role of the mother. She allows the kids to climb up on her back and rides them around the yard with pleasure.

The opossum babies have been living in Stephanie's house for a month and are growing up healthy and strong thanks to Pretina's care.

Stephanie hopes that when the babies grow up, she can bring them back to their natural habitat.

P.S. And remember, just changing our consumption – together we change the world!
