Innovative water treatment plant based on membrane reactors

Research center GK "stark" has designed experimental set-up biological wastewater treatment technology water treatment activated sludge. The innovative technology lies in the method of water purification of biologically active sludge (micro-organisms) by membrane reactors that separate water from the sludge without settling, inherent to the classical methods of treatment. The technology is based on ultrafiltration. Packages of semi-permeable membranes are lowered in aerotank with ILO-water mixture, and purified water is pumped. Thus, from the purification scheme eliminated the bulky settling tanks, reactors with attached load, post-treatment filters. This leads to saving space and funds for the construction of wastewater treatment plants.

Another advantage of improving the dose of active sludge in aerotanks. The more organisms accumulates, the faster they go all biological processes. Compared to conventional methods, the dose of sludge increased 3-4 times and the volume of aerotenkov reduced. This affects the cost of storage equipment, construction of foundations, buildings, maintenance areas, etc.

To describe the technology at the household level for example, army special tubes that allow you to drink water from virtually any source. They are made on the same principle of ultrafiltration, and membrane biological reactors, which let water molecules through a semipermeable membrane. The prospect of the development of membrane technology is the significant improvement of water quality through fine filtration, as well as the possibility of wide application – from small villages to large industrial facilities.

This method of water treatment is ideal for cases when treatment facilities need to be included in compact planning, under which there is sufficient space. The special need for membrane cleaning technology exists in areas with a high responsibility for the quality of wastewater – for example, at lake Baikal and any other drinking sources. published
