A group of researchers from mit have developed a new electrochemical method to quickly change the transparency of the glass. Scientists say that currently there are a number of alternative methods to change the transparency of the glass, but their method differs speed and low energy consumption.

Lead author of the research paper, a chemistry Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of technology, Dinca Mircea (Mircea Dincă) explains that in creating the glass used in the electrochemical materials that change color and transparency under the influence of stress. They are radically different from photochromic material used in the well-known glasses-photochromic, which darken in the light. Photochromic materials react much more slowly and have a low degree of change in transparency. From the same limitations of existing electrochromic materials with very limited scope.
