Architectural photo tour of Pyongyang
Professional photographer Olivier Rafael (Raphael Olivier) recently traveled to Pyongyang (North Korea) and created a fantastic photo essay exploring the ancient city of socialist architecture.
French photographer, who is currently based in Singapore, explains:
"Almost completely destroyed during the Korean War (1950 - 1953) Pyongyang rose from the ashes in the 1960s and 70s with the help of local architects and designers, who are often trained in the Soviet Union, as a result of the impressive structures marked by the influence of constructivism, modernism, futurism brutal and architectural style. »
