Gold (food additive E175) - element of the periodic table of Mendeleyev, with atomic number 79. It is a noble metal of yellow color. Gold is the most inert metal which is hardly degraded by the environment. Food additive E175 can be dissolved only in "aqua regia».

Gold naturally obtained (as it occurs in nature in its native state), and some by chemical means, which became possible with the development of modern technologies.

In the food industry the gold as a food additive E175 is rarely used and with imagination. For example, a recently released Swiss firm candies wrapped in an edible casing in a composition which includes gold. And in France it was released drinking water, composed of colloidal gold, which is useful for health. It is believed that a food additive E175 prevents digestion, and even have hypoallergenic properties. But we must not forget that some of the gold compounds are highly toxic and can accumulate in the liver, kidney, spleen, and thereby lead to a number of diseases: dermatitis, thrombocytopenia and stomatitis.

Food additive E175 is used infrequently and in small quantities because of its high cost. Therefore, coloring E175 can be attributed to additives, safe for human health, provided that the recommended concentrations.

Food additive E175 is approved for use in the food industry in Russia, Ukraine and many other countries.
