Modern humanity is living in the ice age

Geographers define the ice age as a stage in the Earth's geological history, in which the poles are present at its "ice caps" - the glaciers. Today's climate is an "interglacial period". But this does not mean "between ice ages." The term used to describe the stages in the Ice Age, when, due to the warming ice retreats.

"Our" interglacial period started 10 000 years ago - during what is considered to be the fourth glacial period. When it will end is anyone's guess: the version about the duration of the interglacial period allowed of 12 000 to 50 000 years (not adjusted for man-made human activity).

The reasons for such fluctuations are not quite clear. Possible factors include the position in which the land and the composition of the atmosphere, as well as changes in Earth's orbit around the sun. And perhaps his own orbit the Sun within the Galaxy.
