Sealand (Sealand) is perhaps the best known micro-because of its strange and fascinating history. Sealand is located about 10 km from the coast of Great Britain, and originally was a naval fort during the Second World War, which was intended to deter German air raids. In 1967, Paddy Roy Bates occupied the sea fort and used it to run a pirate radio station. He and his family have declared this place independent sovereign state, including the issuance of passports.
Bates claimed that the nation's assigned state de facto when Germany sent a diplomat here, and in 1968, a UK court ruled that due to its position in international waters, it is outside the jurisdiction of the UK.
In 1978 there was a significant event. While Bates was away, the Prime Minister, Alexander Achenbach committed the armed seizure of the object and the son of Bates, Michael, who was held hostage for a few days, later releasing him in the Netherlands. Bates dismissed the foreign participants of the coup, but Achenbach, who had a passport Sealand, and was accused of treason microstates.
From time to time Sealand other similar incidents have occurred, including the case in 1990, when the British ship was fired because he invaded the territory of Sealand.
