Scientists believe that the solar system was formed without explosion

First came the dust. About 4, 6 billion years ago in a small part of the huge interstellar cloud had a gravitational collapse, resulting in the galaxy soon a new star - the sun. But with the collapse must start somewhere - with the local seal material. What caused this seal? ..

One of the most popular hypotheses, answers this question in short: a supernova explosion. This idea became widespread, but recently, researchers from the group of Nicolas Doufasa reported that it failed to find an experimental confirmation.

Scientists have turned to the radioactive isotope iron-60. As far as we know, the only place in the universe where he was born - supernova explosions. "If you find in the solar system enough iron-60, it will be precise evidence for a supernova," - says Professor Doufas. The explosion, which gave a boost to the very gravitational collapse, had to saturate the molecular cloud and iron-60.

Previous studies have provided some evidence in favor of such a picture, but Doufas colleagues have come to a different conclusion. After analyzing a number of asteroids (as it is believed that these small bodies were formed at the dawn of the solar system and still little changed, introducing a kind of resources that distant era), the authors found that the iron-60 in them too little, and it very evenly distributed.

Interestingly, in their work, scientists have used the same material as that of their colleagues earlier, but using more accurate methods is strictly rid of all possible impurities and to obtain more accurate - and completely opposite - results. They report that they spent more than five years of research and "would not make the declarations, if not the most precise and accurate in every phase of the work».

To make sure Doufas and his team repeated the procedure by measuring the level of another isotope iron-58, which is also born supernovae. "These isotopes are like inseparable twins, - says Professor - if somewhere there is an iron-58, then somewhere close to and iron-60." Data for iron-58 fully confirmed the previous findings: both isotopes were distributed almost evenly on samples, and they were quite a bit.

The authors conclude that no supernova for the birth of our solar system is not needed. All the amounts of heavy isotopes of iron, which is found can be explained by the gradual accumulation of their interstellar medium. But what of the aluminum-26? This is another characteristic of the "trace of a supernova" as time is found in large quantities.

Scientists believe that the explosion happened without massive star (mass 20 times greater than the current Sun) threw their outer shell - and with them, and aluminum-26 - and were filled with this substance and the energy surrounding clouds. Domestic same field stars have kept the accumulation of iron-60, and the solar system, it is not horrible.
