All people in the world the same color associated with music

Researchers at the University of California at Berkeley found that people associate the music with a fun yellow and orange flowers, and sad - gray and blue. The scientists hope that their discovery will shed light on the phenomenon of synesthesia, ie the impact on one sense organ and the appearance of specific sensations corresponding to different organs of perception. In addition, it is estimated that these scientific studies will be useful to advertisers and art therapists.

The study was conducted with the help of classical music - Bach, Brahms, and the immortal Mozart (Concerto for Flute and Orchestra number 1 in G Major, and "Requiem"). It was attended by about a hundred men and women, half of whom live in San Francisco, and the other - in Guadalajara (Mexico). Participants were asked to select five of the 37-color (from red to violet), the most appropriate listening mood music. The result was that the people of the US and Mexican melodies majeure equally associated with warm yellow and orange hues, and minor - a cold gray and blue. Thus, it was concluded that auditory synesthesia is not dependent on cultural, age, gender and other characteristics of a person - the music conveys the same for all the emotional palette, for her there is no racial barriers.

The findings could be useful for art therapy, advertising and the musicians themselves: for example, creating visuals accompanying blues concert, make better use of blue and silver colors - it will significantly increase the emotional response of viewers.
