The story of Murphy's Law

"If the trouble can happen, it will happen"

We all have days when everything goes wrong: you are late and stops in front of every red light, the sandwich always falls butter side down, put on a white - and certainly something the shed. But none of these examples and is not suitable to hold a candle to what happened to the man in whose honor the laws of Murphy and got its name.

His real name was Edward A. Murphy, Jr., he was captain of the US Air Force. In 1949, he worked at the air base, "Edwards" in California and helped determine how much G can sustain people. These studies were needed in order to design airplanes.

The experiments and tests conducted by a doctor Air Force Colonel John Paul Stepp and his team. Within a few months of experiments in the name of science Murphy received numerous fractures, concussion and burst blood vessels in the eyes. And he was rewarded - the first law of Murphy is named in his honor.

During one of the tests captain Murphy brought 16 sensors, they had to be connected to equipment Colonel Stepp to measure the impact, which is subjected to a sudden stop when the plane. After the first test all the sensors showed zero. Murphy checked the sensors and, contrary to the theory of probability, all 16 sensors are connected correctly. Then Murphy reportedly grumbled technician who had to connect them, something like: "If there are two ways to do something, and one of them leads to a catastrophe, then it will be chosen this method».

Later, at a press conference, known for his wit Stepp Murphy quoted this statement, as well as another: "If something bad can happen, it happens».

"Law" quickly joined in contemporary culture. Apparently, for many people it is (unfortunately) is universal.
