Somalia as a country virtually ceased its existence, having lost all the attributes of a single state, and broke into many shreds controlled by feuding warlords. The northern part of the country declared its independence as the Republic of Somaliland, and remains relatively stable. Everything has been going on since 1991, this is not Far Cry 2.
