Travel Istanbul XIX-th century

For one of the largest cities XIX-th century became the next stage of regeneration. Weakened politically and financially, the Ottoman Empire finally decided to start the development of one of the most beautiful cities in the Middle East.





Photo Tour This was made possible thanks to the discovery of a pile of vintage photographs taken by Swedish photographer Guillaume Bergrrenom (Guillaume Berggren). He spent in Turkey for nearly thirty years, in the interval from the 70s XIX-th century by the "zero» XX-th. It was at this time a new wave of development of Istanbul. In addition, the new residence was built for the Ottoman sultan. It was called the Dolmabahce Palace.
