Ford Mondeo equipped with an intelligent recognition system of obstacles
The new line of Ford Mondeo will be from October in Europe. Ford engineers decided to increase the level of safety of the car, using the latest technologies, which are already used in the computer systems of some cars. Novelty, automatic recognition of obstacles called Pre-Collision Assist. Its peculiarity is that when driving a car space in front all the time scanned, and if there is an obstacle, the emergency brake is triggered. Thus, even if a person does not have time to react, the computer will stop the car in time and avoid accidents.
Pre-Collision Assist operates on the basis of the camera and the radar. If the obstacle is far, the system warns the driver and just prepare the car to brake, reducing the gap between the brake discs and pads. In addition, the driver will be given audio signal the presence of obstacles. If the driver does not react to the warning and do not reduce the speed, the system automatically activates the brake system.
developers believe that the Pre-Collision Assist can help reduce the risk of road accidents. However, due to the fact that the system depends on the camera, in cases of reduced visibility and in the dark, its effectiveness is reduced.
The company's engineers have already conducted a test of the new system in real conditions, drive the vehicle with the Pre-Collision Assist over 400 thousand kilometers (used different cars) on three continents. Check different weather conditions and situations.
New products will be offered to customers as an option. A first cars Ford Mondeo, equipped with this system will be in Europe this year. In the US and other countries - a little later, probably in early 2015.
