Chilean Dragon Hill

In the small coastal town of Iquique, right along the Pacific coast, stretched unusual sand dune, the height of which varies from 150 to 500 meters. It is noteworthy that the above Dragon Hill on our planet only the dunes of the Sahara desert.





It is believed that the Dragon Hill appeared about 20 thousand years ago during the last ice age. Now, this dune is a natural protective barrier from the ocean coast. To date, the Dragon Hill became a characteristic element of the local landscape. You could even say a special highlight of Iquique. Unfortunately, the local population often uses the dune as a place where you can hide the trash. Dune is very popular with glider pilots.
