PolyITAN-1 - the first Ukrainian nano-satellite in orbit

On the night of June 20 into orbit was launched the first Ukrainian nanosatellite PolyITAN-1 , created in KPI. Nanosatellites - a class малых artificial satellites of the Earth, the creation of which was made possible by the development of mikromitiatyurizatsii and nanotechnology. Now they are increasingly used for various studies, объясняет press service of the MES. In NTU KPI was created nanosatellite format «Cubesat», weighing about 1 kg and dimensions 10h10h10sm. H5>

It consists of 4 modules, subsystems: the power supply module, the module radio link control module and the payload module. Established a satellite team of young scientists and engineers of heat and power and radio, Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunication Systems Institute NTU KPI led by PhD Boris Rassamakin. All modules are created when creating this unit can be used for a series of other satellites. According to the vice-rector of NTU KPI Mikhail Ilchenko, the aim of launching a satellite PolyITAN-1 is a series of tasks:
  • working out of technological modes of flight;
  • the creation and study of solar sensors for small spacecraft;
  • check power developed at the University of solar power supply;
  • adaptation to space and improvement for future missions of digital information channels from the satellite to Earth and machine control commands;
  • study of the effect of space on the work of electronic subsystems of the satellite;
  • study the functioning of systems GPS original design.

    For flight tracking system and the planned studies at the University established a center with the necessary test equipment. The results obtained during the flight, the young scientists will use including for the design of new structures of small satellites, which provide for the development of agreements signed by NTU KPI with other universities. Actually, the start was also implemented in the framework of international cooperation with the University of KPI third countries: after the presentation of the engineering model nano-satellite at the Institute named Kalman (Belgium) Kyiv Polytechnic invited to take part in the International project QB50 .

    June 19 in the space 33 satellites launched by scientists from 17 countries, among them - the platform with the launch canister QuadPack, developed by ISIS, which were placed university nanosatellites. Nanosatellite KPI PolyITAN-1 was placed together with the satellites from Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Israel, Singapore and the United States. Brought into space these devices launch vehicle "Dnepr" with a launch base "Clear" at 23:11 local time. After 16 minutes after the start
    they successfully separated from the third stage and went into the desired orbit.
