Alexei Eremenko Jr. politruk raises soldiers to attack. This is perhaps the most famous photos of the Great Patriotic War, on a par with that except that the photo of the Victory Banner over the Reichstag. Eremenko died after a few seconds after the picture was taken.
Picture named "Combat" (ie, "the battalion commander") author photo by mistake. The photo was taken on July 12 near the village of Good (now the village of Good Slavyanoserbsk region Lugansk region) between the rivers Luhan and Lozova, at the site where the defense held the 220th Infantry Regiment of the 4th Infantry Division, leading the bloody stubborn defensive battle with the superior forces of the enemy.
