Circum-Baikal Railway

Circum-Baikal Railway is a narrow coastal strip of Lake Baikal. To accommodate the railway track in the rocks were cut throughout the shelf. Put the retaining walls to expand and strengthen the roadway. Cut a tunnel through the headlands and cliffs, bridges and viaducts were built across rivers and bays of Lake Baikal. Many rivers and streams because of their steep temper had put the stone troughs, pipes, chutes. Strengthened even rock. Judge for yourself. Erected a 41 tunnel. 40 of them survived. The total length of the tunnels for about nine and a half miles. It was built 15 stone galleries and 3 of concrete. Through rivers, streams, honeydew, hollows bay of Lake Baikal were transferred about 470 large and small bridges and viaducts 6. To protect path built about 270 different fortifications: retaining walls, paving and other. It was built 18 stone pipes and troughs. According to some estimates, for every 100 meters on the path Circum-Baikal Railway, there is one engineering technical construction. Impressive? All this needs to see with my own eyes.
