Gorillas: Living on the edge
In the new book "Gorillas: Life on the Edge" tells the story of some of the rarest animals in the world - mountain gorillas. To work on a book photographer and animal painter Andy Rose came on the laid territory mist Virunga volcanic mountains of Rwanda to monitor the daily lives of these amazing creatures.

1. Gorillas live on the brink of extinction - in the wild there are only 786 individuals.
2. However, thanks to the efforts of the fighters for the salvation of animals, they are gradually moving away from the brink.

10. All female gorilla plays the role of a caring loving mother, and the male - patient father.
11. The gestation period is 8, 5 months. The cub is entirely dependent on his mother, who feeds him, bears, protects and emotional support until the age of three, when he became an independent member of the group.
12. Gorillas quite well tolerated in captivity, breed. The number of gorillas is low and continues to decline mainly due to habitat destruction (deforestation) and also due to poaching.
13. Usually during siesta mother tidy shёrstku their young adults and teenagers scour or clean the skin from each other, but with less enthusiasm and precision than do other primates.
14. The families of gorillas quarrels occur mainly among females.

18. Stanford University conducted a "project Coco" in which a female gorilla was able to learn many words of sign language. Gorilla was able to more or less adequately communicate with the person.
