Altai Princess sent home

In 1993, an archaeological expedition led by doctor of historical sciences Natalia Polosmak found in the mound of Ak-Alakha Altai tombs dated to the period V-III centuries BC The wooden deck filled with ice, lay the mummified body of a young woman who died at the age of 25 years. On the body of a woman found a well-preserved tattoos. The mound was also found things utensils. Name of the mountain plateau near Mongolia, where there was a burial ground, found a mummy called the Siberian Ice Maiden. Altai discovery is considered one of the most significant discoveries of the Russian archeology end of XX century.

Because the region did not have the conditions necessary for the storage of such ancient artifacts, the mummy was in a museum of the Novosibirsk Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography, where she studied the scientists. At this time in the Gorno-Altaisk museum reconstructed to provide the necessary conditions for the storage of mummies, RIA-Novosti reported. By late summer, all the works have been completed and today Siberian Ice Maiden went to their historical homeland.
