IL-62: 50 years of flight

01/03/1963 made the first flight of the passenger aircraft IL-62. For nearly 30 years, this is very good airplane OKB SV Ilyushin was the flagship Aeroflot.
IL-62 belongs to the category of passenger jet aircraft "second generation". The first flight was made in 1963. In operation since 1967 are manufactured in 1966-1995. There were produced 289 aircraft.
IL-62 was essential for non-stop traffic over long distances with a maximum range of 10,000 km.





IL-62, especially IL-b2M - represented a whole epoch in the domestic civil aviation and significantly expanded the capabilities of air transport in our country, ensure the safety of long-distance and intercontinental links. IL-62 is truly brought together parts of the world, it changes the perception of distances. This was the main machine in the international and domestic routes most distant and in many ways - the face of our country.
The high level of reliability of the aircraft IL-62, although it applies to all machines SV Ilyushin, has identified its application as a government aircraft to service high-ranking government and political figures of the USSR and the Russian Federation.
IL-62 crew of five: two pilots, a flight engineer, navigator and radio operator - housed in a spacious, with a good view of outer space the cabin, where all the control units are positioned so that they were easy to use. Working conditions in the cockpit contributed to this increase in safety by reducing the number of errors pilo¬tirovaniya related to fatigue of the crew. My uncle flew in many types-started with the Po-2 (in a summer school in the '50s) -ushel retired from the A-310 in the 90's. 10 years, he flew the commander of the IL-62 and always remembers the plane with warmth and tenderness. I remember in the '90s (flying only as tested), taxiing past teh.stoyanok where sawed last decommissioned Il, he tried not to look in the wrong direction and vorchal- "but would rather have too .." (as blunt crew reacted nervously increasing speed taxiing) .This his favorite aircraft because according to him is the last plane in which the pilot feel, not a computer operator. His words confirm my classmates a few lucky ones (without the quotes!) To fly, albeit briefly, on this beautiful aircraft.
Accidents and Disasters IL-62 in the largest number of cases occurred due to the fault or crews or because of failures (or false signals about refusals) engines.
IL-62 - a machine for the truly endless Russian distances.
IL-62 was and still is deservedly popular with passengers and drivers, but no longer flies on regular services, the heavenly honest hard-won a good name in the history of aviation.
