Space Cadets never come back from Mars

Volunteers who have passed the selection for the post of the first colonizers of Mars gathered August 3, 2013 at a conference in Washington, DC, to learn about the upcoming mission. Prospective travelers destined never to return to Earth.

In April 2013, management of non-profit project Mars One announced that the first four volunteers will arrive at Mars in 2023 after a seven-month journey. This group of colonists will consist of two men and two women originally from four different continents.

According to the company, sending the first crew to Mars will cost $ 6 billion and will be financed at the expense of "the first reality show from another planet." The new carriages will arrive every two years. The mission, designed for decades, will be followed by an interactive broadcast every aspect of colonization. To participate in such a "non-returnable" colonization of Mars applied for more than 78 thousand volunteers.

The head of the project Mars One Dutch entrepreneur Bas Lansdorp plans that fixed base on the Red Planet will be created by 2022 if the mission will be able to find the necessary 6 billion.
