River Tagus





Tahoe is the largest river of the Iberian Peninsula, it flows through the territory of Spain and Portugal. It is not surprising that this important natural attraction has another name - the Tagus River is so styled Portuguese.



The word "Tahoe" translated from Spanish means "deep wound", which corresponds, according to experts, features a narrow channel flowing into the highlands.



The banks of the river Tagus populated uniform, in the Lisbon area, for example, the population density is very high, while the coast, situated close to the mouth of the river, almost uninhabited.



In the valley of this affluent Spanish-Portuguese rivers first inhabitants appeared in the Mesolithic. A striking evidence of this is so the title of "kitchen pile" consisting of bones of animals that ate the local tribes.



Archaeologists also found on such sites of primitive tools made of bone. Especially a lot of valuable items unearthed during an expedition in 1863 in the valley of the Tagus River in Portuguese territory famous scientist Francesco Pereira da Costa.



Most of the river, about two thirds of its length, held on Spanish soil in its six provinces of Teruel, Guadalajara, Cuenca, Toledo, Madrid and Caceres.



In the waters of the Tagus are recognized as the ancient ruins of buildings belonging to the Roman era, and modern facilities of large cities, such as Lisbon Portuguese or Spanish Toledo.
