Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) or CP Rail (Canadian Pacific Railway). The rail network stretches from Vancouver to Montreal, and laid in the largest cities of the United States, such as Minneapolis, Chicago and New York.
Initially, the idea of building felt just reckless bravado, and, indeed, it was one of the most courageous decisions in the history of the railways.
It all began in 1867, when the eastern provinces of the country united in a confederation. To the west of them lay the vast prairies and unexplored mountains. Behind them, on the Pacific coast, was British Columbia, where government long hesitated to join any country: the United States or Canada
In 1881, construction work began under the direction of William Van Horn, an American of Dutch origin. Path through the prairie has been traced very quickly, in just 15 months. From a supply base in Winnipeg westward moving construction and installation of the train, and one was loaded with building material for exactly one mile of new road.
