The Italian coast close by Russian millionaires

The authorities of the Italian resort town of Forte dei Marmi in Tuscany prohibit the free sale of villas overlooking the sea. Now they will be able to buy only the Italians or foreigners with a residence permit. The reason for this decision were Russian millionaires are actively buying up land and property on the shore of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Immigrants from Russia have provoked inflation and real estate prices began to gradually displace the local population here. Mayor of Forte dei Marmi Umberto Buratti passed a law according to which the villas overlooking the sea will be able to buy only the Italians or foreigners with a residence permit. "We want to protect the unique character of our city and give it turn into something impersonal, like a gas station on the highway - explains his decision to the mayor. - Of course, we are pleased to Russian guests, but they should respect our traditions. We will not be tailored to fit their tastes. " Locals annoying abundance of Hummer and Ferrari, parked at the beach clubs like Twiga, where table reservation is now worth € 1000, and Russian, by spending € 15 000 per night. Villas in Forte dei Marmi are, according to some, Roman Abramovich and Oleg Deripaska. This resort town people have already dubbed "the Italian the ruble."
