The world's largest solar power plant
In the US state of California launched power Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System, which will now bear the status of the world's largest. Its total nominal capacity of 392 MW.
The power plant is located in the well-known Mojave Desert, and its total area is about thirteen square kilometers. The basis of the power plant are about 350,000 heliostats-controlled mirrors. These mirrors are, in turn, focus the sun's rays on the water tanks located in the massive 140-meter tower. Evaporation leads in turn to the work of the generator. A significant problem encountered with the operation of power plants - burns and burning alive of birds flying in the area of action of the rays.
