Ice sculptures

25th of November in the Belgian city of Bruges opened the annual festival of ice and snow sculptures, held on the eve of Christmas and New Year. In a special tent set in front of the railway station of Bruges, on the territory of about a thousand square kilometers with a constant temperature of -5 degrees, the ice sculptures on display.







The event attracts sculptors from snow and frozen water from all over the world and create their incredibly beautiful works.



We have been working for five weeks with 29 international artists of 11 different nationalities. It has been used at least 400 tons of ice and 300 tons of snow - the organizer of the exhibition, Alexander Demeny.

The theme of this year's festival were the famous Walt Disney characters.





Palaces, figures of people and animals, castles, stained glass windows and intricate caves are illuminated with colored lights.

Adults also visitors of the festival at the end of the route look into "ice bar" in which everything from the bar and ending with glasses made of ice.

The organizers of the exhibition hope to attract the ice up to 200 000 visitors. The festival will last until 15 January next year.
