Fashionable hairstyles of the 1920s

In 1904, permanent perm was invented in Germany - a long-term perm that could last for 6 months.
Cinematography and the appearance of silent film actresses began to have a great influence on fashion. In 1909, the first women's short haircuts appeared. The standard of beauty was recognized as the actress of French cinema Eva Lavalière, for whom the famous French hairdresser came up with a hairstyle on short hair - a model haircut.

When World War I broke out, many women cared for the wounded in hospitals. They did not have enough time for intricate structures, so their hair was cut more and more often. A short haircut has confidently entered women's fashion. Short hair in girls has become the personification of change, a new life. Haircuts "a la garçon", "bubi-kopf" were recognized as popular.

The "bubi-kopf" hairstyle was made of short, finely curled hair. Cut hair served as the basis for the foxtrot, polka, and tango hairstyles, which received their names from the then popular dances. The world-famous bob haircut also owes its birth to the beginning of the XX century. However, long hair also did not go out of fashion. They were parted in a straight way, tied in a knot, or gathered in a bun around the neck. Their hairstyles became smooth. They were decorated with beads, tortoiseshell combs, silk and velvet ribbons, massive brooches made of semi-precious stones and jewelry, flowers, lace.

Having mastered and fallen in love with short haircuts, women began to heavily paint their lips and eyes, and use false eyelashes. In the 20s, the type of a thin teenage woman with a flat bust and a doll's face spread. Ordinary people made a short haircut "under the comb", "on an oblique row". Braids laid in a "basket" or wrapped around the head were in fashion. Long hair was curled on the forehead and gathered at the back in all kinds of buns. The jewelry in the hair has almost disappeared. Pot-type hats made of felt appeared.
In 1920, thinning scissors with teeth were invented to help thin out hair.
