Krutitskoye name comes from the word "Krutitsy", which in ancient times was called the hill on the left bank of the Moscow River.

The history of this place began in the 13th century, when the monastery was founded here. From the time it's over, there's nothing left.

In 1991 part of the monastery was given to the church, the other part until 1996 was used as a guardhouse of the Moscow garrison. To this day Krutitsy works on reconstruction of buildings.



Photos and videos are prohibited on the territory of monastery. The reason for this prohibition is not clear, and the legality controversial.
