Makha Bucha Festival in Thailand
Thai Buddhists celebrated today one of the most important religious holidays. Its traditional date depends on the lunar calendar. Makha Bucha Day is celebrated on the first full moon of the first lunar month.
In Thailand, this day is a public holiday, so that anyone could visit the temple with morning prayer, and then in the evening to take part in a candle ceremony "Vien Tien." Supervises the holiday itself the King of Thailand. The main ceremony takes place in the temple of the Emerald Buddha. However, to pray and to hold a candle procession is possible in any temple. "Vien Tien" begins at eight o'clock in the central halls of the temple. Buddha statues set up on the stretcher and performed a ritual procession around the church three times in a clockwise direction. All participants are holding incense sticks, lotus flowers or candles.
