Band-e Amir - the first national park in Afghanistan

The chain of seven lakes with water saturated color sapphire currently undeservedly forgotten by tourists. However, Afghan authorities are trying to give the area a national park and make it to the number of World Heritage sites.

The maximum depth of the complex of lakes Band-e Amir 150 meters, reached this mark in the middle of the lake Banda Mr. Haybat, which also has the most intense blue color (almost ink). The banks had steep affecting its grandeur. At 80 kilometers away is the ancient town of Bamiyan, near which are the ruins of the highest Buddha statue, which in 2001 was destroyed by members of the Taliban. On all sides, the unique water bodies surrounding desert with rare shrubs growing thorns. Band-e Amir was popular with tourists before the last war in Afghanistan.
