The chapel, which grew out of the hill
In the central part of France is a small town of Le Puy-en-Valais (Le Puy-en-Velay), known throughout the world not only for its cheeses, but also unusual buildings such as the chapel of St. Michael, located on a cliff.
The town itself is located in the province of Auvergne, known territory with volcanic past. Therefore, the city, as it were hidden among the remains of a volcano. But the most remarkable place in Le Puy-en-Valais is considered Chapel of St. Michael, which in 962, the year built under the control of St. James, at that time bishop of the city. The chapel is located at an altitude of 82 meters and it seems that literally grows out of volcanic stone. Before entering the chapel you have to overcome 268 steps. Since 1998, the year the temple springs in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site.
