How to make slippers from an old sweater
You'll need it.
- sweater
- felt (20 cm 30 cm) or finished insoles
- paperboard
- pencil
- shears
- double-stick
- needles
- chalk
- sewer
Progress of work
- Cheaper and easier to buy ready-made insoles. But, if anything, they can be easily made from felt. First, circle the contours of the leg on the cardboard.
- Then cut the pattern out of the cardboard.
- As you can see, the further work is very simple!
- You're gonna need 4 identical insoles.
- The sweater goes on! Transfer the drawing to the knitted fabric, but do not forget to make an indentation of approximately 3 cm. Round 2 identical contour, then cut in lines.
- Stick bilateral adhesive tape to the first insole and apply it to the front side of the fabric.
- Do the same with another insole and put it on the back of the fabric. It is necessary that the edges of felt insoles coincide as much as possible.
- Now we need to sew insoles and fabric. You can do this manually, although the sewing machine will still save your nerves and time!
- Let's take the top of the slippers! Measure about 13 cm, starting from the sleeve cuff, and cut. Shake the cuff and round the opposite side of the detail, as depicted in the figure.
- Now you have a piece of knitted fabric with insoles sewn on both sides and a cap. And there should be two of them! So finish and start the most interesting thing - stitching fragments!
- Put the cap, which is the future top of the slipper, on the front side on top of the sewn insole. Its top should coincide with the center of the rounded side. Sew the details at this point.
- Next, you need to move the top of the slipper 3 cm down and sew to each other the corners of the detail in the area of the cuff and the sides of the knitted fabric with insoles. Make some stitches, as shown in the photo.
- Sew both parts round, while moving from left to right and evenly taking in the line excess fabric around the insoles. Thanks to the stitches already made, this will be easy to do.
- Turn the resulting design so that all the seams remain inside the slipper, and make two incisions on either side of the heel. You need the incisions to end a few millimeters from the insole.
- To make the heels of slippers, you need to form them from these three segments of tissue. Then sew the parts - should get two vertical seams.
- Finally, slippers! Cut the bottom of the sweater. Wrap the rough edge so that the bandwidth is approximately 5 cm. Cut it into 2 pieces. Secure the scotch as shown in the photo. The resulting knitted tape wrap around the slipper, glue and fasten with stitches. Do the same with the second tape. Done!
- These are the cute little home shoes you get!
