The modern smartphone is much stronger than the machines that helped Apollo land on the surface of the moon. Many of our ancestors would have laughed if they had heard something like this.

40 years ago, a mobile device was a large tube with an antenna from which you could not send the usual SMS. The batteries that now fit comfortably into our phones used to be the size of laptops.

By the nineties, progress was more tangible. Phones have become more portable. By the beginning of the new millennium it was possible to play Snake.
Two thousand people brought rapid development of information technology. Color display, Bluetooth, cameras, built-in players, clamshell form factor – all this began to attract new buyers and users. In 2007, Apple changed the world forever with the release of the iPhone. After 14 years, we are witnessing a complete change in the smartphone market and the same furor they produce, thanks to new features. These include fingerprint recognizers, Face ID, 4K cameras, OLED displays, 5G frequency and wireless charging.

With app stores like the App Store and Google Play, smartphones can do whatever we want. We can send funny pictures to friends on messengers, measure the dimensions of new housing or order fast food delivery anywhere in the city.

One of the important areas of life that has been affected by progress is gaming. The portable console form factor was popular in the nineties and two thousandth years. It included the much-loved PSP and Game Boy, and all of them gave way to more modern, convenient and variable devices – smartphones.
Your favorite games you play on your console or personal computer are likely to have a mobile version. League of Legends: Wild Rift is a mobile adaptation of one of the most famous online games developed by Riot Games. Another worthy example is PokerStars, the organizers of well-known live events, optimized the online gaming platform for mobile devices.



The next innovation – will it be or not?
While innovation has been around for years, some have questioned the existence of truly new ideas. According to observers and users, manufacturers are focusing on more cameras, their size, increased battery capacity and other minor improvements. Due to the lack of big leaps in progress, but a big difference in price, many postpone the purchase of a new smartphone in the long drawer. According to rumors, everyone in the relative future will carry a small nuclear reactor in their pocket (of course, with all safety precautions and thorough testing before release!).

Flexible and foldable smartphones
To smartphones with “nuclear” stuffing is still a long way off, of course, but flexible and foldable mobile phones are already on sale right now.

Some manufacturers are already experimenting with different designs, including the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and Motorola Razr 5G. They have won fame far from cheap smartphones and, unfortunately, prone to breakdowns in the early stages. Customer skepticism is quite justified, and manufacturers do not lose hope of improving the technology. For example, there are rumors that Apple will also join the number of companies producing a foldable smartphone, but the exact dates are currently unknown.

Whether it’s super-fast-charging batteries, a holographic display or a complete change in the physical shape of our familiar smartphones, the new features will not slow down with the advent. We can only wait patiently for the next releases and wonder what the producers will surprise us again.
