It would seem that in cooking can have such simple flowers as velvets? Let’s say you can make tea from them. However, any plant can be poured with boiling water and call it tea. So what is the peculiarity of velvets?

For me it was a real discovery that this plant is used for cooking various dishes. And both as a spice and a full-fledged ingredient. This year I learned for the first time that you can cook salads with them and even do various preservations.

For the preparation of seasoning from velvets, we will need only their petals and a good coffee grinder.

Preparation
  1. First, we wash, dry and clean the petals of velvets from sepals. We lay out the petals on a tray or board and leave to dry for 1-2 days. With electric drying for fruits and vegetables, you can save time and do it in a couple of hours.



  2. We grind the dried petals in a coffee grinder. Then repeat the procedure with already crushed petals to achieve the necessary consistency of the seasoning.



  3. In the end, it remains only to sift through the ground petals of velvets through a sieve and pour the spice into a clean jar for further storage.
