Chef confectioner grows strawberries for desserts himself, in the country, in the spring pours a nutritious mixture into strawberries

It is no secret that the most juicy and sweet berries in the summer receive only those gardeners who since spring thoroughly approach the issue of caring for strawberry beds.

Usually spring dressing strawberries are carried out in mid-March, immediately after the snow melts. However, this year, March turned out to be quite frosty, and therefore fertilizer work has to be postponed to April.

So today's edition. "Site" I decided to share a little reminder about how and how to feed strawberries in the spring with everyone who plans to get a particularly generous harvest of these fragrant berries this year.

Many neglect the procedure of feeding seedlings with chemical fertilizers, believing that Mother Nature copes with everything perfectly herself. And very in vain, because often, skipping the processing of plants, you can generally remain without crops. But about fertilizers a little later, but for now we will talk about the preliminary preparation of plantations for feeding.

So, before feeding plants, it is necessary to at least remove from the site last year’s mulch, old dry leaves, weeds and other garbage, which has become a cozy refuge for pests over the winter.

Then the purified soil should be poured with boiling water, adding a little iodine to it to neutralize the insects remaining in the ground.

Next, remove, we weed and well loosen the upper ball of the earth to again get rid of pest larvae and warm the soil. Then we can finally move on to fertilizer.

It is best to feed strawberry beds with those fertilizers that contain nitrogen. Since with a lack of nitrogen, plants form small and bitter berries. Experienced gardeners recommend using nitrate or urea.

During fertilizer work, it is also customary to prune strawberry bushes and clean them of dry inflorescences. This should be done as carefully as possible so as not to accidentally touch the core of the plant. As for pruning, the optimal height of the sheet is 5 cm. If you leave the leaves to grow further, then in the future the plant will give all its strength to their development. It is better for them to grow their fruit. Isn't it?

Among other things, it is worth checking the rows for the presence of sick or old bushes. And if found, replace them with healthy seedlings.

At the end, strawberry beds should be covered with hay (or any other mulch) and well watered.

That’s all you need to do to enjoy the large and sweet strawberries in the summer. How do you feed strawberries in spring?
