This year the world will install more than 85 GW of new solar capacity

According to the forecast of research company GTM Research, in 2017 the total capacity of new solar power plants will be of 85.4 GWh, of which 73% of this volume will fall on the markets of China, USA, India and Japan.

According to a report by GTM Research on solar energy for the first quarter of 2017, this year's total global capacity of all solar installations may increase by 85.4 GW. This is 9.4% more than the capacity added last year, which was 78 GW.

GTM analysts also predict changes in the list of world leaders in the field of solar energy: according to the report, the company in 2017, India will displace Japan from third place, adding 10 GW of solar capacity. Thus the first four leaders, according to GTM, would be: China, USA, India, Japan.

In March, the aggregate capacity of all solar installations in India amounted to 10 GW, according to energy Minister Piush of Gogala, this figure will rise to 20 GW over the next 15 months. According to the strategic plan of India, by 2020, the country needs to produce at least 100 Gigawatts of solar energy.

China last year became the undisputed leader in the field of solar energy, increasing its total solar capacity by 34 GW (it was $ 77,42 GW). The strategic goal of China — to achieve the capacity of solar PV installations in 110 GW by 2020.

Global added capacity in 2016 surpassed the most optimistic scenario the development of solar energy from another research company — SolarPower Europe. The company had predicted an increase in capacity of 76.6 GW, while in reality added 78 GW. According to SolarPower Europe, by 2020, the world will be in total to produce 500 GWh of solar energy. published
