How to calculate the flow fabric for window curtains

You have almost finished the repairs, but have not yet registered window textiles, or want to upgrade the blinds and curtains, but don't know how much fabric to buy? Not necessary to call a professional – all you need is measuring tape and a few spare minutes.Telling and showing how to quickly and easily calculate the flow fabric for curtains of different lengths and type of mounting.

What you'll need: sheets of paper, pencil, and measuring tape

Stage # 1: determine the length of the curtains. There are three traditional types of length of curtains: to the sill, below the sill and to the floor.

To the window sill: the bottom edge of the curtain is 1 cm above the windowsill, the cloth can freely move.

Below the sill: curtains look neater if hanging 10-15 cm below the sill.

To floor: curtains end 1 cm above the floor level, so more wear and tear. You can also choose the length of the curtains, the fabric flows down to the floor.

To determine the length shower curtain smarterstats from the top of the fixed rail or from the base of the rings to the rail to the intended position of the curtain at the bottom. Allowances on the hem until consider – you will add them later.

Tip: on the possibility measure is not a cm, steel tape measure – it is longer and allows you to accurately take measurements.

Step 2: Define the width of curtains.

Before the measurement, fix the ledge to the right place – to be able to accurately calculate the length and height. Typically, the cornice protrudes on both sides of the window 15 cm, to be able to push the curtains to illuminate the room.

Sometimes the support rail is fixed wall-to-wall. Width of a cloth is determined by the length of the cornice and the type of fixing the curtains. To calculate how much fabric you will need, you need to know the coefficient of the Assembly.

Tip: when calculating the width of the curtains on both sides need to add 10 cm on the ACC side.

Step 3: calculate the amount of fabric.

When you have made all the necessary measurements, you can proceed to the calculation of the amount of fabric. This will require a simple formula. Fabric consumption height canvas = height curtains + ACC bottom + ACC the top. Keep in mind that fabric or with printed geometric pattern that is repeated along the length of the fabric, its expense is increased by the length of the rapport.Consumption of fabric by the width of the cloth = length of cornice x factor Assembly.

Tip: let us calculate the fabric consumption for a standard window, the length of the cornice is 2 meters, the height of the curtains is 2.6 m, the curtain is of a fabric without a pattern, mount on a standard curtain tape.

Then, the flow width will be 2 m x 2 = 4 m.

Flow length: 2.6 m + 0.15 m + 0.1 m = 2,85 m

If curtains choose a fabric with a pattern (with repeats 50 cm), the flow rate along the length will change: 2.6 m + 0.15 m + 0.1 m + 0.5 m = 3,35 m. published

P. S. And remember, only by changing their consumption — together we change the world! ©
