Convent de Sant Francesc – a reconstructed ancient monastery in Spain





Catalan architect David Closes (David Closes), developed and implemented a unique project of reconstruction of the monastery Convent de Sant Francesc, located in the Spanish town of Santpedor.

On the background of the ancient facade made of stone masonry, appeared ultra-modern architectural element, including the external staircase, which is visible through the transparent glazing.





This eclectic combination of the modern architectural style and historically important building is quite harmonious, thanks to the convergence of lines and shapes.



At first glance it is not even clear that transparent, the tumor follows the contours of the original stone building, while remaining independent and unique. Particularly impressive the building looks in the dark when comes to the fore a contemporary element, revealing the secret inner space of a mysterious house.
