Zaha Hadid built the bridge of Sheikh Zayed in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. This bridge is the third in the city. Like the first two, and macta by car, built, respectively, in 1960-e and 1970-e years, it connects the mainland of the UAE in Abu Dhabi, located on an island in the Persian Gulf.
Construction of a new bridge, the idea of the city authorities, is crucial for the development of roads in the region. A bridge is a structure in the form of two converging, then diverging "sinusoids", the ends of which abut the island and the mainland. The top of the "arches" up to 60 m above the water level and the roadway located at an altitude of 20 m. it is divided in two, and each half width 4 of the strip suspended at the sides of the "sine waves" on a console.
The length of the bridge is 842 m. at Night the bridge spectacularly lit; the project of lighting designed by famous designer Rohira van der Heide. It is considered that the design Hadid was inspired by the silhouette of the sand dunes, but implemented in the bridge is more like a flock of giant grasshoppers sitting in a row behind each other. The new bridge bears the name of Sheikh Zayed, and this fact deserves special attention. Sheikh Zayed the father of the current ruler of the UAE — was an exceptional personality: he unified the country, became its first President and held this post for 38 years.
In addition, Sheikh Zayed was also interested in architecture. However, on this basis, the bridge name Zayd would not give. To name the building in honor of the ruler in the East a special honor, sort of the ultimate recognition of its merits, from which we can conclude that the bridge by Zaha Hadid is now considered as a part of the official architectural "paradigms" of Abu Dhabi.
