Fountain in memory of Diana printsesa

An unusual fountain in memory of lady Di was designed by American landscape architect Kathryn Gustafson. Her version of the memorial has won the contest among 10 of thousands of jobs! The simplicity and elegance of this building recalls the simplicity and humanity of Princess Diana.

The memorial is an oval of irregular shape, made of Cornish granite, which represents the channel of the river in length, two hundred meters.

Workshop of the architect calculated the trajectory of the water so that all through flow as it is constantly changing. The result was that the water in the channel flowing towards each other from both sides. On the one hand the water overcomes the stone sills, and on the other – reminiscent of a babbling brook. This is the poetic idea of the monument as a reminder of the turbulent, not always easy life of Diana.

Face two threads in a small pool, which according to the author, symbolizes eternal peace. Itself the granite which made a vein, processed in a special way to its undulating surface enhanced water play.

Across the stream is spanned by three bridges leading to the green lawn in the center of the memorial. At the opening of the memorial in July 2004 was attended by Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles of Wales with his sons William and Harry and Diana's brother, Earl Charles Spieser.
