Operation of the wind turbine 1 MW for 20 years allows to save about 29 thousand tons of coal or 92 thousand barrels of oil.
However, most likely, humanity will face by limiting the thus generated energy. Wind turbines work by way of creating resistance or slowing down, reducing the strength of the wind. If you set too a large number of turbines, then the wind will slow down significantly. Moreover, such changes in global wind circulation can affect climate (the previous study of this model revealed a risk of global changes in the distribution of precipitation during large "gathering" of wind power).
However, according to scientists, neither the problem of climate change will not threaten us for a very long, long time. Humanity can environmentally friendly to wind energy up to 2000 terawatt before face physical limits. This figure is 100 times bigger than the planet consumes at the moment.
The next step for scientists will study the adjustment of the technical capability of the landscape to the location of wind turbines. But at this point it's safe to say that if there is such rich possibility of providing humanity with amount of energy in times of surplus, after all the decision for the development of this area will be determined by the political, economic and technical constraints rather than by territorial borders.
