4KTV, Ultra-Definition TV with 3d effect
According to the latest research of the analytical company IHS iSuppli, the next generation of TV, 4KTV, though growing, but still insufficiently developed in order to gain a foothold in the market until 2017, and even then can be left out.
This year launched the first release of devices Ultra Definition 4KTV. 4KTV different double resolution of the current standard of Full HD 1080p. This revolutionary TV format has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, providing an 8.3 megapixel image that is four times bigger than the 2.1-megapixel, which is available to current models. The device also has passive 3D, giving a three-dimensional image without the need to wear 3D glasses.
Recent iSuppli report on the development of the global TV market predicts that the demand for new devices will continue to grow very slowly. They portend that this year will be sold only about 4,000 new 4KTV devices. They also believe that the supply devices 4KTV, the number of which currently amounts to less than 1% in the market of LCD televisions, for the next five years will reach 2.1 million devices. It's a big jump from 4000 projected sales in 2012, but the figure of 2017 will be still only 0.8 % of the market.
What are the causes of the disappointing forecasts? The first is the scale. Such a large number of illegal dump pixels means the need for a large screen, so it is pointless to put all that detail into a small monitor. For this reason, the first designed for this format of the device was 84 inches, which are far superior to even large 50-inch screens to which we have come more recently.
The second is price. As expected, using the latest display technology and extending as much as 84 inches, this TV will not be cheap. For example, the 84-inch Sony XBR-84X900 is $25000. Manufacturer LG Electronics from South Korea is also launching an 84-inch version for $20000. If you are looking for something a little more accessible, the cheapest version is a 55-inch screen from Toshiba for $10,000.
In addition 4KTV meets another obstacle, which consists in the fact that currently only a limited amount of content, although the film company for some time and scanning their archives in 4KTV. However, we can only guess how long I have to expect from broadcast infrastructures that can cope with the transmission so the high-level data. Company Sky, with at present one of the widest ranges of selection of specialized HD and 3D digital TV channels in the UK, have recently experienced 4K in preparation for the next TV boom in the final match of Arsenal in the Champions League.
Buyers, however, most likely have yet to see the benefits in investing in such a complex new technology right now, when there is little to see. There is also the possibility that today's audience is a little tired of the constant changes in screen resolution. Blu-ray, 720p HD, 1080p/i HD, 3D and now 4K. All this requires the audience not only a continuous updating of their technology, but also content changes. But it is expensive and not very convenient.
So 4KTV and his older brother 8KTV in General don't look stunning. Of course, for fans of passive 3D extra pixels will make the 3D effects more vivid than is achievable presently with the usual TV screens, but this is only a small layer of people. So while iSuppli forecasts seem more than realistic.
