Unique cave Mlynky

Mlynky is one of the largest horizontal caves in Ukraine. The length около35 km to Ternopil region, Chortkiv district, S. Salissa.


Routes through the cave an incredible variety, they are all of varying difficulty. The total length of the "Klinkov" -28 km away and has many attractions. The cave is named so due to the fact that its only entrance is located near the river Mlynka.


The basis of the cave is of gypsum rock. Several million years ago, the whole cave was monolithic with a bottom of the Sarmatian sea. Gradually, the breed has cracks into which water fell and washed out the cavity, which now turned into multiple moves.


The walls of the cave is strewn with numerous crystal – white, yellow, red and black. There are several halls with stalactites, but in these caves, they are rare, and a room where they are most called “fairy Tale.” Gypsum cave Mlynky — one of the largest karst caves of Ukraine. Discovered in the early XX century the locals, mined gypsum, on the outskirts of the village. Named for the location — in the village of Mlynky, where once worked a water mill. The first message appeared in the press в1960, the Temperature all year round is kept at 11 degrees. Inside the cave there is a small lake with fresh water, lives a large colony of bats.
